I have been expanding my skills as a cosmetologist over 30+ years and truly enjoy it. I have been fortunate enough to have practiced from coast to coast, so I have had the opportunity to learn from many different styles and many different eras. My love of learning and education fuels me in many aspects of my life including how I relate to my clients. I can take a little longer than the average stylist because of this, however I think that you will find that the wait is worth your while. Everyone is unique in their haircare needs which sometimes can be challenging but I look forward to getting to know you and helping to make it easier. I bring a very unique warm and caring approach to developing each individuals definition of their ideal image. I like to factor in each person's characteristics as well as the demands on their time and haircare needs to develop a style tailored to each person. That is one of the favorite parts of my career. I specialize in fine hair, challenging directional growth patterns (cowlicks) and hair with a variety of curl. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to achieve your favorite style.

I graduated from beauty college in 2000, right after graduation, I started my apprenticeship with Edward Wadsworth for Hair in Portland. I specialized in color and trained for almost two years under a top colorist in the Portland area.
Over the years, I have worked at a few different salons, including Aveda, for ten years. I made the decision to share what I have learned and pursued a direction in education where I spent the next five years sharing my passion for color and applied my love of solving problems to further my knowledge of color correction. I taught in the classroom as well as on the salon floor. I especially enjoyed teaching advanced classes on color theory. I found myself wanting a little more and missing my career in the salon and then I found Salon Mariposa. I have a diverse background in many different hair types including ethnic hair. I specialize in challenging color situations, coarse and /or thick hair types.
I pride myself in my color knowledge and I am glad to finally call Salon Mariposa home, where I can utilize my skills and love meeting amazing people daily.

Stylist
Choosing to attend Cosmetology school, where I graduated from in 2004, was a natural decision for me. I have always loved playing with hair as a child. In high school my love for hair continued, I enjoyed taking care of my friends' hair for homecoming, and prom and my talent for special occasion styles continues to grow. JC Penney in Kansas hired me on as a beginner stylist. Working for this company allowed me to grow as a stylist and discover my love for color. In December of 2006, my husband and I moved to Oregon. I transferred to JC Penney at Washington Square, where I met Jennifer McKim. Jennifer, the owner of Salon Mariposa, asked me to join their team in 2013.
Formal event/occasion hair was my first love and continues to be so. I will travel for wedding events that are within the Portland Metro area. It’s my goal to help you feel special as well as look great for your formal occasion.
I have always been a creative person, using hair as my canvas, is the perfect form of artistic expression for me. Corrective color services, fashion color, bright blonds or grey coverage services are what I thrive on. I love a good challenge when it comes to color.

Stylist
I started doing hair as a kid, first on myself , when I learned that overnight braids can give beautiful next day waves, then as I practiced on my younger sisters, my interest grew. My sisters all had very long hair and I loved doing “princess” braids and duplicating elf hairstyles from the Lord of the Rings movies. Eventually, I began doing their haircuts as well. As an adult, I spent a ton of time with friends doing their hair, nails, and makeup, but never really considered it as a career until I acted as stylist for my sister’s wedding in 2014. I received so many compliments and enough urging to finally look into cosmetology school. I spent my education working on fashion shows, photo shoots, weddings, and competitions, trying to absorb all the knowledge and experience I could get. I graduated with a full cosmetology license from Beau Monde in 2017 and have loved working behind the chair ever since.
I’ve always adored the use of hair as an art medium and a means of self-expression, and it makes me so happy to help people look and feel good! My goal is always for healthy hair that makes you feel right – unique and confident and beautiful. I love learning about my clients and helping to personalize their look and fit it into their lifestyle, and I am always pursuing continuing education to give my clients the best information and results. I specialize in braids, fashion colors, and Brazilian Blowouts.

Dekoda
Wax Specialist & New Talent Stylist
I always knew that I wanted a job where self-expression and art
were the main focus. Immediately after high school, I began a full
cosmetology course at Summit Salon Academy and graduated in 2018.
After looking for a salon home for a while, my stepmother introduced
me to Jennifer -covid style- who guided me through a haircut at a
distance. She invited me into the salon shortly after.
Though I took a break from hair, I’ve landed in a space where I
have not just 1, but 4 experienced stylists helping me learn multiple
techniques so that I’m well versed in giving each client their own
custom look.
I enjoy fashion colors, short haircuts, and deep conditioning
treatments!
